La charla prevista para el día Martes 10 estará a cargo de Rejane Spitz, quien trabajará sobre la temática: “El abordaje interdisciplinario en la práctica de Diseño”.

| bio | Rejane Spitz

Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Art & Design at Rio de Janeiro Catholic University (PUC-Rio) in Brazil. Spitz also coordinates the Electronic Arts Unit, an experimental research laboratory working with art and technology at PUC-Rio.

Pos-Doctoral researcher at CADRE -Laboratory for New Media /San Jose State University (California, USA) (2003), Visiting Scholar at the University of California at Berkeley’s Space Sciences Lab (2002). Rejane has a Ph.D. in Education from PUC-RIO (1993), a M. Arts in Graphic Design (1983) from the Central School of Art & Design (London, UK), a Certificate in Advanced Typographic Design (1982) from the London College of Printing (UK), a B.Arts in Industrial Design (1979) and a B.Arts in Visual Communication (1979) from PUC-RIO.

She has worked with computers in the arts since 1983. Spitz’s interactive projects include websites, CD-ROMs, musical collaborations, and installations. Spitz’s work has been exhibited in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, England, Finland, France, United States, and Uruguay. She has also curated several exhibitions on Electronic Art and has written extensively on social and cultural issues related to the use of computers in developing nations.

Her work “Netizens, net-fringers and outsiders” (http://alpha.art.puc-rio.br/neteveryone) has been exhibited at ISEA 2000 (Paris, France), LASA 2000 (Miami, US), SIGGRAPH’ 2001 Art Gallery (Los Angeles, US), Kingston University (Kingston, UK) (2001), Colville Place Gallery (London, UK)(2001), SIGRADI’2001 (Concepcion, Chile), FILE 2002 (Sao Paulo, Brazil), and at the Digital Art Gallery 2003 (International Symposium on Digital Art), London, UK.

Spitz is on the International Advisory Committee of ISEA (Inter-Society for the Electronic Arts,) the Advisory Board of the Digital Art Museum (DAM), and is the South American representative of SIGGRAPH Education Committee. In addition to joining the ISAST/Leonardo International Advisory Board, Rejane Spitz serves on the editorial board of Leonardo, and is the SIGGRAPH 2005 International Resources Chair.
